Methacholine Challenge Testing - This test for airway hyperreactivity is useful when baseline spirometry is normal or only slightly obstructed. Requires baseline spirometry testing.

Diffusion Study & Lung Volume Study - (DLco, DL/Va, TLC, & RV) - Diffusion studies (DLCO & DL/Va) are used to evaluate a variety of lung abnormalities that impair alveolar capillary gas transport (ie, diffusion across the alveolar-capillary membrane). Please note that Lung Volumes such as Total Lung Capacity (TLC) & Residual Volume (RV) measured by gas dilution in the presence of airway obstrucion may be underestimated. Requires baseline spirometry testing.
